An experienced hospitalist based in Demorest, Georgia, Dr. Joshua “Josh” Estep has practiced at numerous medical facilities, including Samaritan Pacific Communities Hospital in Newport, Oregon, and AU-UGA Medical Partnership in Athens, Georgia. Dr. Josh Estep earned his medical degree (MD) from the University of Medicine and Health Sciences. After earning his MD, he completed a physician residency in Athens, a position that involved caring for patients in both outpatient and inpatient settings. Later, as a hospitalist in Newport, meanwhile, he provided patients with an array of internal medicine services.
Dr. Joshua Estep now practices at Northeast Georgia - Habersham. He balances his general medicine and rural medicine activities with infectious disease and prion disease research. He published a research article, “Complement Regulatory Protein Factor H Is a Soluble Prion Receptor That Potentiates Peripheral Prion Pathogenesis,” in the Journal of Immunology. He is also an active member of professional organizations such as the American College of Physicians and the American Board of Internal Medicine.
In addition to his medical education, Dr. Estep’s professional certifications include basic life support and advanced cardio life support. He also gained experience with the Utilization Review Committee at St. Mary’s Hospital in Athens.
